Degree requirements, as listed here, are either
from what is listed on the websites of these colleges or
from e-mail correspondence.
The reality, however, is that there is little truth to most of
this rhetoric. Please see
Bogus Approvals for more
details.
Almeda
"Almeda University's minimum requirement to be considered
for the Bachelor of Business Administration degree (BBA) is 5 years of
work experience in a field directly related to the major or a combination
of both work experience and college credits totaling a minimum of 5 years.
Work experience considered may include military service."
Belford
Belford's website states: "Students seeking admission in our bachelor's degree program are required to have at least 4 years of work or life experience relevant to their desired major or the minimum passing score of our online equivalency test. If you want to get your online university degree on the basis of prior life experience, the eligibility requirements for a Bachelor's degree may be satisfied in any of the following ways :
- Prior job experience in any field
- Previous educational achievements
- Employer-sponsored training and attendance of workshops
- Participation in organizations, both professional and non-professional
- Personal goals, lifestyle, hobbies, and travel
- Participation in volunteer activities and community service
- Independent reading, viewing, listening, or writing"
Colton
"Apart from our distance learning programs followed under the proper enrollment & credit completion plan, we also help those students who wish to get degrees on the basis of their work experience. To enroll you just need to visit any one of our partner sites and ask for the degree program that suits your requirements & learning."
Glendale
"Glendale University does not award college credit for experience and this must be made clear. Professional educators worldwide agree that "life experience" in and of itself is NOT worthy of college credit. What PLA is concerned with is learning, regardless of how it was obtained. We assess the information furnished and gathered, to determine the level of your skills, knowledge and competence you acquired from your work experience, your voluntary activities, your avocation, your military service, your homemaking experience and knowledge from independent study. In brief, we analyze your "experiential learning" and this term legitimately describes most of the learning that occurs in our lives."
Redding
"Redding University developed our Prior Learning Program to reward those individuals who have the knowledge required for a university degree, but until now, were denied the better job or promotion they deserved. The following minimum requirements are needed to qualify for a degree. Life experience is any experience you have relevant to your major and is separate from work experience and classroom education. Depending upon the particular circumstance, military experience qualifies as either work or life experience."
Rochville
"To apply for a Bachelor's Degree on the basis of your previous work and life experience, you should have at least four years of work or life experience relevant to the major you are interested in."
Suffield
"Have you achieved, through academic work and life experience, a level of competency whereby you feel confident of your ability, but have been passed over for promotions and other advantages while the college graduates in your office or field advance by leaps and bounds just because they have a few extra letters after their name? Suffield University believes that knowledge earned through former work experiences, corporate training, military service and other non-traditional learning activities are a valuable addition to knowledge gained through traditional classroom settings."
